Clothing Needed: The nurse's office is in need of clothing (new or used). Undergarments, pants for boys and girls that would fit kindergarten/first graders would be appreciated!
You Should Know: 1) If your child is ill in the morning he/she needs to remain at home. An ill student only spreads illness in a classroom. 2) A student with a fever is to remain at home until the temperature is normal for 24 hours. 3) A student should be free of all nausea and vomiting for 24 hours before returning to school. 4) A child with a rash may be excluded from school at the nurse's discretion and will need a doctor's clearance before readmittance to school. 5) Be sure that the school has current phone numbers where a parent or guardian can be reached in case of an emergency.
Don't Guess: A message from the Council on Family Health and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration: Make sure you're giving your children the right medicine and the right amount. When it comes to taking medicines, kids aren't just small adults. When using non-prescription medicines, be sure you're giving your children the right medicine and the right amount. Read the label carefully and follow all instructions to the letter.
Medication Policy: Students who take medication at school are required to have the following on file: 1) Release of medical liability form with parent/guardian signature - form available from the nurse. 2) A signed medication card from your licensed health care provider - form available from the nurse. 3) Medication must be brought in the original container in which it was dispensed and must be given directly to the principal or school nurse.
Under no circumstances will medication be administered if the appropriate forms, signed and dated, are not submitted. No non-prescription medicine will be dispensed at school without a prescription.
